Ignition switch on my shopping list

My near loss of car keys this week has led me to discover a whole new world of car locksmith services that I never even knew existed! Apparently in addition to the more standard services associated with car locksmiths like car lockout and key duplication, a good car locksmith car replace an ignition switch too.

Fortunately I don't think my ignition switch requires replacing just yet but it appears that buying an ignition switch replacement online can be much cheaper. It can still be fitted by a professional mobile locksmith though, let's face it - I shouldn't be attempting that level of tinkering on my car!

I couldn't find my car keys...

It's one of those classic excuses and one that I almost had to pull out the other day when running late for work. I could not find my car keys anywhere. I looked all over the house, in the pockets of my coat and jeans, even down the back of the sofa. The problem is that I only have one set of car keys. I bought my car second-hand and the previous owner had lost the spare keys so I have no back-up set in case of manic Monday morning lateness!

Been looking for a car locksmith and had not had much luck finding one in my area, but just came across an auto locksmith locator site. Didn't realise before but an automotive locksmith can also offer lock repair and car key duplication in addition to the standard car lockout services, good to know since I do have a tendency to misplace things...

Buy a car engine online

So, it may not be the kind of online retail therapy that I'm used to but good to know that this is available to us internet-savvy shoppers...car engines for sale online. With more than 100,000 miles on the clock of my much-loved convertible, it's great to know that I could get an online quote for a replacement engine if I need one. Have a friend who's a mechanic and would probably fit it for the tidy price of a Sunday lunch - this could save me a small fortune!

Sarah's parking space!

Loving this idea! Rather than having a boring parking sign on your driveway, how about one of these fun parking signs with your name or personal message on? These personalised car gifts would make a great birthday or Christmas present for any car enthusiast...or even a grump who doesn't like others parking in their spot!

They could also make a great joke present, perhaps for a boss with their own parking space in the office car park? I particularly like the idea of a 'Sarah's convertible only...lesser cars will be clamped' sign! They also have the same kind of sign but by car model instead, so would be 'Peugeot 206 CC parking only' - also sounds pretty good!
